LEAGUE STRUCTURE

GYB consists of players who meet the school grade or league age requirements. A player must be in kindergarten (or be 5 years old before August 31st of the current playing year), but must have not reached his/her 15th birthday before August 31st of the current playing year to participate. The organization is divided into basic levels: Pony League (7th and 8th graders plus 14 year old high school students who do not play for their high school teams) and Youth League (kindergarten plus other eligible 5 year olds through 6th grade). Pony teams play in the North Suburban Youth Baseball Association (the “NSYBA”). In the event any NSYBA rule conflicts with these supplemental rules, the NSYBA rule takes precedence. The Youth League level is further divided into four levels of play: Bronco, Mustang, Pinto and Shetland.

League Boundaries

Any child meeting the grade/age requirements and residing within the Glenview Park District may register to play GYB. Those outside of the boundaries will be registered on a space available basis. Shetland and Pinto teams will be assigned by neighborhood as close as possible to the residence Page | 4 2016 Policies, Procedures & Supplemental Rules of the player or a “form your own team” basis. All other levels of play will be formed by an open draft of players that is independent of geographic area.

Levels of Play

Each league is divided according to levels of play. The objective is for all players to develop their skills to the best of their abilities. The following season, all teams are dissolved and the eligible players are returned to the general player pool.
