Travel Program

PROGRAM OVERVIEW and TRYOUT INFORMATION

GYB and our Board of Directors is continuously seeking feedback on the various programs we offer the community and consistently looking for ways to improve the baseball options for Glenview. Based on community response and our experience with the state of youth baseball, we are rolling out a few changes to our Glenview Patriots Travel Program, which is included below.

9U

GYB expects to offer multiple teams with the number of teams to be determined by the number of players at the tryout and their abilities.  The teams will be split into A and B levels playing in the LSFBL based upon talent levels as determined by GYB and independent evaluators.  All players at 9U will also play in the House League.  GYB will provide off-season indoor training with paid independent instructors in February, March, and April.  Participation in the off-season training is not mandatory, but strongly encouraged for the improvement and betterment of the players.

10U  and 11U

GYB expects to offer multiple Patriots Teams with the teams to be split into A and B levels playing in the LSFBL based upon talent levels as determined by GYB and independent evaluators.  The top level teams will have the opportunity for a paid independent manager.  All players participating in the Patriots Travel program will play in GYB’s House League.  If desired, early season tournaments will be available to the traditional Memorial Day Tourney and Jim Christ Memorial in Glenview as well as others. GYB will provide off-season indoor training with paid independent instructors in February, March, and April.  Participation in the off-season training is not mandatory, but strongly encouraged for the improvement and betterment of the players.

12U

GYB expects to offer multiple Patriots Teams with the teams to be split into A and B levels playing in the LSFBL based upon talent levels as determined by GYB and independent evaluators.  The top level teams will have the opportunity for a paid independent manager.  The top team level teams will have  the opportunity to play in Cooperstown for their out of town tournament.  GYB has a current bid for Cooperstown and will work to obtain an additional bid if desired by parents to play in this memorable experience.

13U and 14U

GYB expects to offer multiple 13U and 14U Summer Patriots Teams with the teams to be split into A and B levels playing in the LSFBL based upon talent levels as determined by GYB and independent evaluators.  The top level teams will have the opportunity for a paid independent manager. All players on Summer Patriots teams will play the GYB house pony league, The intent would be to have a house league program specifically within Glenview, but that will again be determined by the number of registered players.  The goal would be to play a 12-14 game house season on a single night of the week and an occasional weekend game and would run from mid April through early June.  Playing within Glenview only gives GYB the flexibility to create the schedule and also leaves flexibility for Patriot activity while not diminishing the program that has been offered year after year for house league.  In addition to the traditional Memorial Day Tourney and Jim Christ Memorial in Glenview, teams will be able to register into both local as well as an out of town tournament of their choice as well as have paid coaches if desired as previously mentioned.  GYB will provide off-season indoor training with paid independent instructors in February, March, and April. Participation in the off-season training is not mandatory, but strongly encouraged for the improvement and betterment of the players.
