Glenview wins the first game of the season 10-9

The Glenview Sock Puppets got out to a 5-run lead in the second inning and held on for a 10-9 victory over Warriors Red 10u on Saturday. Warriors Red 10u closed the gap by scoring on a walk, a hit by pitch, a ground out, a single, a single, an error, and a dropped third strike.

The Puppets got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Nolan S doubled, Miles W grounded out, and Mason S grounded out, each scoring one run.

Glenview Sock Puppets added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Warriors Red 10u dropped a third strike, and Avery Z stole home, each scoring one run.

A sacrifice fly by Hunter C extended the Glenview Sock Puppets lead to 6-2 in the bottom of the third inning.

Two more Glenview Sock Puppets runs crossed the plate in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 8-3. Luke S hit a solo home run to center field, and a wild pitch scored one run.

Glenview Sock Puppets scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth on a home run to left field by Nolan.

Nolan started the game for Glenview Sock Puppets. The righty allowed one hit and zero runs over one inning, striking out three and walking none. Brody B stepped on the mound first for Warriors Red 10u. The southpaw allowed three hits and five runs (four earned) over two innings, striking out two and walking one. Sebastian B pitched one inning of no-run ball for Glenview Sock Puppets in relief. The righty surrendered zero hits, striking out three and walking one.

Tommy Z led Glenview Sock Puppets with three hits in three at bats from the leadoff position. Nolan led Glenview Sock Puppets with three runs batted in. The pitcher went 2-for-2 on the day. Warriors Red 10u didn't commit a single error in the field. Brody had the most chances in the field with five.
